Born in 1949 Jim was educated in Edinburgh at Herriot’s school where he first became interested in athletics. He later studied at Edinburgh University and became a Research Chemist with BP in
Grangemouth. This is when become a club member, enjoying tremendous success – some of which is detailed below. Jim moved to Hull in the early eighties through his work and continued his running with Kingston upon Hull. However, he maintained his links to FVH and his many friends within. He sadly passed away after an illness in 2005. To mark his memory, FVH added his name to our annual Round The Houses 10K road race – there is also a race in Hull that still carries his name as well which.
