Club Updates - Awards, New Records, Cross Country, Virtual Roads, Covid

Awards: Many congratulations to David Lothian and Drew Stevenson for winning the prestigious Tom Stillie Sword at the recent scottishathletics 4J awards night. This award is presented to those who have contributed the most to the sport in the previous 12 months. The planning they done to ensure the delivery of this years National XC (which was held in terrible weather) was exceptional, as indeed has been their input to this event over the years.

Road Series Results

Well that’s the 2020 road series completed for the U17-Masters section and the Junior (U11-15,) section. This has been a unique series from the get go, as it was decided to start it, for the U17-Masters at the Christmas Handicap, and to include 2 exclusive club members only events, which would supplement the chosen road races. Of course it turned out that those races were all cancelled, with the exception of the Jack Crawford 10k, and so we adopted Virtual events from SAL and our own exclusive Virtuals and Time Trials into the series to try and keep us all connected and motivated during the

Road Champs Final Events (For All Ages)

The U17 to Masters Road series held its penultimate event recently at the Football Stadium and there was a great turnout of 20 runners.  Granted it still wasn’t true racing, but it was a bit more like it - at least we got to more or less run at the same time and in same conditions. The seedings determined by entrants predicted times, lead to some great tussles,

Round The Houses 2020 - Update

As with many road races, it has reluctantly been decided, due to the current Covid 19 restrictions in Scotland, that it would not be safe to hold this year’s RTH 10K. All entrants will receive a refund  which will be paid back into the card they used for payment by entrycentral in August. The anticipated date for next year’s race is Sunday 18th April. I hope that all of you will be able to support our event next April.

Thanks again for all your support for the event, our committee would like to wish you well for the future.

Phase 3 Protocols

As the numbers coming back to training increase so does the possibility that coaches, athletes, parents and volunteers will not know what is expected from them. The committee have decided that all must consider what is required and that they acknowledge same by a google form. Coaches will then invite athletes back to training using open spaces. NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT = NO INVITE TO TRAINING. An email wil be sent to all members by Wednesday 22nd July with a lot more info and the links to the relevant documents.
